Enter the Bellatrix

"Silently one by one, in the infinite meadows of heaven, Blossomed the lovely stars, the forget-me-nots of the angels" - Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.

What makes looking at a sea of stars at night so romantic? It might have something to do with the fact that we are made from star stuff as Carl Sagan so eloquently described our connection to the cosmos. When sharing the view of scattered droplets of light with your special one, it can remind of how within a sea of people, you found each other.

To an acute observer, Bellatrix Films, and commercial video counterpart, Betelgeuse Films, are connected despite being separate entities. Not just because of the video sphere they occupy, but conceptually also.

If it is a clear night you can look up at the night sky and see the three adjoining stars forming the line of Orion’s Belt, the easily observable section of the constellation Orion – The Hunter. If you look a little further up from the belt you will see the two stars that comprise the shoulder of Orion. Their names are Betelgeuse (Pronounced Beetle Juice) and Bellatrix, also known as the Amazon Star. The Wardaman people of north Australia have their own interpretation of Bellatrix - known to the indigenous people as Bajan. Bellatrix is the sparkling pigment in ceremonies which are watched by the owl eyes, Betelgeuse.

Similar to the Wardaman people, the Indigenous people of Arctic Greenland, Canada and Alaska – the Inuits – were also hunters. In their cold, icy climate, these natives held a high importance on the length of days.To the Inuits, the appearance of Bellatrix and Betelgeuse in the night sky signifies the beginning of Spring and lengthening of days. It signifies new beginnings and possibilities. It also happens to be a coincidence (or synchronicity) that here in the Southern Hemisphere, it is the beginning of Spring and a perfect time for a new chapter. Some see marriage as one of the biggest chapters in the book our lives which mirrors perfectly that of which the appearance of Bellatrix brings.

Bellatrix symbolises beauty, synchronicity and infinite possiblities. Although it has evolved over the centuries, Marriage is a sacred tradition with its roots influenced by the importance of a union between two people.

The style of Bellatrix Films will remain as before, while always plowing ahead and blooming.

I can’t wait to share the next chapter with you all. The next time it is a clear night, look to the glittering skies and see if you can spot Betelgeuse and Bellatrix...
